Mom's UP is  an on-line community experience designed to help busy D.C. area Moms transform their auto-pilot, hamster wheel daily/ weekly/ monthly grinds into lighter and more joyful motherhoods.

It is for busy mothers ready to turn their life around and bring more quality into their daily lives and significant relationships.

The Mom's UP! journey begins with a 4-week on-line program designed to help take Moms from where they are today, to a lighter, more joyful and intentional motherhood experience. 

The journey will support mothers in the areas of self-love, trust, balance and energetic strength.

The Mom's UP! journey includes weekly on-line audio/ video workshopsweekly live coaching calls and a lifelong membership to a supportive community of like-minded and warm-hearted mothers.

Mom's UP! Course Modules...

Week 1: {self} LOVE

What does your love affair with you look like? Realize the value of caring for yourself. Learn to recognize and celebrate what is wonderful about you.

Week 2: TRUST

Trust yourself and the value of your journey so that you can begin to feel more confident in your choices as a mother, a woman. So that you can begin to lean into your intuition and trust yourSELF again.

Week 3: BALANCE

Reconnect with what is most important to you and be reminded of what alignment looks like. Realize how to practice balance in your day to day life.

Week 4: ENERGY {strength}

Be reminded of your inner strength. Tap into your vital energies. And learn how to tap into these with sweet and simple take-home strategies, so that you find the power to manage your energy sustainably, and to be yourSELF with authentic conviction.

More about Mom's UP!

Inspiration

We are Pleasance Silicki and Alexandra Hughes - two D.C. area Moms who know all about being no-joy Moms on autopilot, because not so long ago, we were in the thick of it (too long and too deep).

We were in the thick of the self-doubt, the frustration, the exhaustion, the resentment. We both found ourselves asking "Is this all there is", or on bad days: "What have I done? What am I doing?". And on the worser days: "I suck. This sucks. I hate it all."

But not anymore!

After many books, courses, coaches and workshops, we have both redesigned our lives and our ways of BEing to lift ourselves up and off the too-typical D.C. hamster wheel.

We have both learned {and developed} "tricks of the Mamahood trade" - tricks and strategies that have helped us to design balanced and joyful motherhood journeys.

 

Her-story

In 2015, we - Alexandra & Pleasance - ran a series of workshops designed to help mothers use the challenges of motherhood to empower themselves.

We combined coaching and yoga to teach mothers how to honor and practice self-love, balance, trust, energetic strength and creativity in their daily lives.

In October 2016, we used these workshops as the foundation for an exclusive 3-day annual retreat.

We had so much positive feedback from both the live workshops and the retreat that we decided to make our offerings more accessible to more D.C. area Moms.

Our intention today is to create a community and movement in which D.C. area mothers feel supported in their commitments to transforming their busy go-go-go autopilot lifestyles one challenge and one step at a time.

 

About Alex & Pleas...

AEP_4945.jpg.ms.ss.Alexandra Hughes is an entrepreneur, mom coach, writer, mindfulness teacher, eternal life student, mother of 3 and house manager for 5.

She is founder of  calmjoyfulmom.com, where she helps busy mothers to navigate the messy and stressy motherhood journey, and to find calm in their daily chaos.

Alexandra has worked with hundreds of mothers from around the world, helping them to find balance, joy and self-empowerment. She hosts a free Clear Mind | Present Mama Challenge for busy mothers suffering from overwhelm and runs her Calm Mom Coaching Circles to mothers who "lose it" just a little too often for comfort.
In a previous life Alexandra worked as in international development. She’s lived and worked in Africa, Europe, South and North America, and speaks English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.
Alexandra, her mischievous and vivacious children and her loving husband now love and laugh together in Washington D.C.

811Pleasance Silicki is an entrepreneur, coach, creator, teacher, author and magic-maker. She is the founder of lil omm - a wellness and lifestyle movement that leads courses, workshops, retreats, using wisdom traditions and modern research to enhance our daily lives. Lil omm is a community of people who thrive to live well and nourish all the relationships in their lives. Pleasance’s life mission is to inspire communities and create meaningful connections for human beings through yoga, play, meditation, journaling, reflection, laughter, and honest conversations.

As co- founder of The National Kids Yoga Conference, Holistic Moms DC, and Septima Clark Public Charter School, Pleasance is an active and empowered creator who engages in meaningful projects that bring people together. She is currently on the board of Tenleytown Main Streets Program and Fitscene, a women’s fitness movement. She has taught at George Mason University and American University and published her first book in April, 2016 called Delight: Eight Principles for Living with Joy And Ease.

Pleasance currently lives and loves in Washington, DC, with her husband and two children, spreading love, magic, and glitter to those around her. You can find her online at www.lilomm.com.

Is Mom's UP! for me?
Mom's UP! is for me if:
  • you find yourself tired of being a Mom some of the time, and run down a lot of the time
  • you find yourself doubting your choices as a mother, and as a woman
  • you find yourself questioning who motherhood has turned you into
  • you find yourself wondering where the joy went
But most of all, this is for you if you are ready to commit to changing this all!
I’ve never done anything online like this, how does it work?
There are many advantages to learning and growing in an on-line forum like this. You can do it at your own pace, in your own time, and in the comfort of your own home. The Mom's UP! on-line experience has been carefully designed to ensure that you have space to learn on your own and in a group. Weekly lessons and assignments are designed around our workshop themes. Mom's UP! emails will land in your inbox for 4 consecutive Fridays, beginning Summer 2017. Each Mom's UP! email will include an assignment. Ideally, you will complete these by the following Monday. However, if life gets in the way (as it often does) you can always finish your assignments up later on in the week. Every Monday, on-line Mom's UP! coaching calls will be hosted by Alexandra and Pleasance. These will include relaxation practices, lesson follow-up and group coaching exercises. And for anything that comes up in between, a Private Facebook group has been set up to encourage conversation between Mamas - Pleasance and Alexandra, included.
When does Mom's UP! begin, and what exactly does it involve?
The Mom's UP! journey begins Summer 2017 when you will receive your first Mom's UP! Email in your inbox. You will receive Mom's UP! emails for 4 consecutive Fridays. Each email focuses on a particular theme - self-love, trust, balance, energetic strength. Through the thematic lense, the teachings and assignments will guide you one step closer to lifting yourself up above what is currently weighing you down as a mother. Deepened self-awareness and the development of personalised tools and strategies to help you to create a lighter more joyful motherhood experience for yourself and your family. We will meet on-line in a coaching circle on Mondays at noon (EST) beginning March 6th. This is also your opportunity to share your experiences and reflections, and perhaps dig in a bit deeper and benefit from personalized coaching from Alexandra and Pleasance. If anything comes up in between our sessions, you can join our Private Facebook group. This is a place to share your wins, your challenges and anything you think may support others along the way. We will check in twice daily to answer any questions you may have and offer coaching guidance in this exciting journey!
I’m not sure if I can make every on-line gathering – are there any make-ups?
There are no make-ups for our live gatherings. However, all gatherings will be recorded. So if you are not able to join a circle live, you will have access to the recording within the week. Pleasance and Alex also  host free calls monthly that all Mom's UP! members are invited to join.
I'm so super busy already! How am I going to find the time to do this? And how much time will this take, anyway?
I totally get how busy you are and how adding one more project to the list feels near impossible! A whole bunch of thought has been put into making this as Mama-friendly as possible. Having said that, it is important that you see this program as a serious commitment that will take up your precious energy and time. As with anything, the more you give, the more you get. It is an investment that will pay off with a better quality motherhood experience and improved relationships all around! It is also an amazing place to meet like-minded supported Mamas who really get where you are at. Each lesson is between 20 and 30 minutes long. Assignments vary – some are easily integrated you’re your busy days as a type of practice, and others require a focused time of approximately 45 minutes. In general, plan on setting aside 2 hours each week as a minimum (not including Facebook conversations/ coaching).
Will I get any live access to Alexandra or Pleasance? Will I get any hand holding along the way?
Yes! Absolutely! You will get live access to Alex and Pleasance at each LIVE coaching call (four consecutive Mondays) These coaching circles are the space where you can receive some individual coaching that responds to your unique situation!
This is something I really want to do, but what if now isn't a good time for me?
If this question comes up for you, I invite you to ask yourself what is really holding you back, and whether what you are currently investing in is as important as learning to investing in your motherhood experience, your health, your well-being, your quality of life AND your family relationships (all in one go!) Having said all that, if you know that joining Mom's UP! is going to over burden you, then put it on hold until the time is right. We will be running the course again in Spring 2018 and a Mom's UP! weekend retreat is scheduled for October 2017. Stay on our community list to ensure you receive notification of these events! And keep taking care of YOU along the way!
What if I already took a Mom's UP! workshop or retreat? Will the material still be relevant?
Absolutely!! Mom's UP! Alumni are always more than welcome! Just the way each yoga pose or coaching exercise is a unique experience, so too is each Mom's UP! workshop.   As you go deeper into our Mom's UP! themes, you discover something new - something new about yourself, about your relationships, about your vision, about your challenges, about what you need to grow and blossom into that incredible mother and woman that you are. Once you are part of the on-line community, you will have lifetime access to the material and the Facebook group. And with each round, you will lift yourself up and into that thriving (not surviving) motherhood experience! We also hope that, given your experience, you will offer a helping hand to Mom's UP! newbies. Please join!
What if I don't live in the D.C. area?
No problem. While Mom's UP! is designed specifically for the D.C. area Mom, if the challenges we describe resonate with you then you are welcome to join. Mom's UP! is a place that celebrates diversity and invites learning across different experiences.
