You love your children more than anything in the world.

You are committed to being the best mother you can be.

But being a mother has turned out to be the most difficult job you’ve ever had.

The chaos. The mess. The stress. The anxiety.

Motherhood is stressing you out.

You know that you are letting the "small stuff" get to you.

The spilt milk. The muddy shoes. The sibling squabbles.

You've turned into a hot head Mom.

Maybe you yell,  you rage or cry?

Or maybe you let it all ferment inside.

Either way, ugly emotions are taking over.

A lot of the time you don’t recognize yourself.

And you don't like that person you don't recognize!

And worst of all, you feel guilty.

You feel alone.

And maybe a bit out of control.

Motherhood doesn't need to feel this way.

What if being a Mom felt easier?

What if one day you woke up and it was your compassionate and kind self that responded to spilt milk and stained t-shirts?

What if you had a toolbox you could draw from to manage stressful mornings, so you could get out the door without yelling, shaming or blaming?

What if you felt enough inner peace that you could use the nasty 'talk back' or defiance as opportunities to learn from, and actually connect with your kids?

What if you modeled your values of calm, joy and confidence to your children every single day?  It's possible.

I know it's possible because I am a recovering control freak hot-head stressed-out Mom.

I went from a yeller freak out parent to calm responder who, after 8 years of trial and error has figured out how to be in the moment with my kids most-of-the-time.

Based on this personal experience as a mother of three, decades of coaching and mindfulness training and experience, I have designed a program where mothers will stop feeling alone in their hot headedness, and where together Mamas will learn to respond to life's many challenges in a calm and more conscious way.

The Calm Mom Coaching Circle

It is for mothers who are ready to dive deep into self-awareness to learn and practice personalized tools that will help them manage these challenges from a mindful and heart-centered place.

From stuck towards acceptance, gratitude and inspired action...

In the time leading up to my coaching sessions with Alex, I had been feeling “stuck” -- in my habits, in my thought patterns, in my emotions. Alex helped me break through that stagnation and shift my perspective to one of acceptance, gratitude and inspired action.

Alex is caring and thoughtful, compassionate and smart.  But the best thing about her is that she is always a mom first.  Being a mother herself, Alex understands what moms need -- support, understanding, someone to acknowledge their hard work and someone to give them tools they can use to grow and evolve as mothers, women, partners and people.

I’ve had the privilege of working with a few different Life Coaches and Alex is absolutely one of the best.

~ Vanessa B.

I am living my dream! If I hadn't met Alex I would still be lost.

Before working with Alex I held my dream close to my heart – a secret desire of what I wanted, but that I was always too shy/lacking in confidence to admit to anyone.

Alex helped me to shift my thoughts, allowing me to see things totally differently. Now I feel free of all that was holding me back.

Coaching with Alex has been a powerful process. The sessions have been emotional, joyful, monumentally uplifting and empowering. I always, without fail, left our sessions feeling ready to tackle everything head on and knowing what I need to do and what I need to focus on to get there.

I am living my dream! If I hadn't met Alex I would still be lost.

~ Mags

Her work is transformational...

Before working with Alex, the biggest challenges I felt as a mother was this feeling of being torn between spending time with my children and in my professional world. I felt drained and depleted and often blamed my children for that feeling -- when it was often my own ambivalence that was causing the feeling.

Alex’s coaching is helping me to manage overwhelm, stress and exhaustion. She has helped me to experience more joy as a mother; to remember how deep my love runs for my children and how important it is for me to be a role model of resilience for them too.

Her work is transformational in that she helps me to dig deeper into depleting and distracting patterns I hold, and to focus on creating new habits, thoughts, and coping skills that help me make better choices from moment to moment and live more in alignment with who I am and what I believe in.

~ Rachel

Hi, my name is Alex.

Here's a bit about me...

Pre-children, I traveled the world, learned 4 languages and was nicely climbing up my professional trajectory.

I was a self-made woman on a mission to stay strong, accomplished and succeed.

I have always been a passionate person. But hey, I managed my passions well.

I was organized, did yoga and considered myself a together-kind-of-person and pretty chilled out.

Alex, smiling

Then I became a Mom.

And when motherhood came, it chewed me up, swallowed me whole and then spit me out as some new unrecognisable, mad, crazy, woman.

In the beginning I didn’t really think much would change, so I kept living at full velocity.

And consequently, high stress became the flavour of the day.

The weight of my responsibility for young lives, my lack of freedom, my ever confused identity, my altered relationship with the man I loved, the isolation from friends and social events that had been such an active part of my life – these drove me to the brink of insanity.

It was the confusion, the exhaustion, the frustration, the resentment, the overwhelm of it all.

And the guilt of not getting it right. (Oh the guilt!)

Today my experience and my research, as well as the hundreds of mothers I’ve spoken with tells me that these are all feelings shared by mothers around the world.

The myth. The romantic myth that motherhood is blissful.

It did not take very long for that myth to come crashing down on my sanity and self-confidence – both as a stay-at-home Mom and as a working Mom.

When I was a stay-at-home Mom I questioned who I was and I regretted my financial dependence. What of my commitment to feminism and all those working Moms out there?

I missed adults and their rational, reliable world. My brain was melting and my beautiful wardrobe gathering dust.

Worst of all, I hated feeling busy all the time, constantly asking myself: “but what are you actually doing?” I yearned to feel accomplished, to have something, anything, in my realm of control.

So I went back to work. It would be better that way. The financial burden would lessen. My mind would be challenged. I’d have adults to talk to. I’d come home happy and fulfilled. I'd yell less.

But here’s what actually happened:

Life became a guilt-plagued balancing act. A box ticking repetitive groundhog day. Every day. Rush. Get the kids ready. Get myself ready (sort of). Drop them off. Go to work. Leave work. Pick the kids up. Get the kids down. Finish work. Drop dead for the night. Start all over again.

So as both a stay-at-home Mom and as a working Mom, I was miserable, stressed, overwhelmed and completely disconnected from myself and my family.

Interactions with those I loved were anything but calm, because I'd lost my cool (myself!) along the way.

All the "small stuff" (which really represented bigger stuff) was getting to me and I was losing it.

My poor kids!

So when baby number three made his appearance he brought along with him a moment of awakening.

Maternity leave with baby number three shone a mirror on what I had become.

My high-strung-hamster-wheel-guilt-plagued lifestyle was getting in the way of the most important moments and relationships in my life.

My reactions to life’s Mom-stress were explosive and my connections with those I loved, unhealthy.

I had turned into a hot head monster Mom.

And, not only was I modelling crap emotional intelligence...

But my kids were getting to know this crazy woman who I didn't even recognize as their Mama.

These were moments I would never get back.

So I stopped. I started to learn to stay calm and enjoy the ride;

I started to relearn motherhood.

Since then I’ve retrained as a professional life coach and have worked with dozens of mothers from around the world to help them do the same – find calm and joyful living.

Because the truth is:

  • You know that these moments of motherhood will fly by
  • You know if you keep on this same path, you will have regrets (and they suck)
  • You know what is most important to you right now.

And now you know what you can do about it.

Please, please, please...if any of this resonates it's time to do something about it...join the waiting list and guarantee your spot on the next Circle.

Is a coaching circle for me?

A coaching circle is a safe space for people to gather in support of one another’s personal growth and development. Alex is an experienced coach and workshop facilitator who will guide the circle gatherings.

Members of the circle commit to follow a code of ethics that embrace confidentiality alongside honest, constructive and heart-centered communication.

This coaching circle is for you if you are looking to connect with like-minded mothers; if you are open to learning and sharing openly with others about your motherhood journey.

It is for you if you feel alone and want to join a community of mothers who are open to being real, honest, with a good sense of humour but ready to treat motherhood as an opportunity for personal growth.

If you feel you would benefit more from private coaching, please do not hesitate to learn more about MAMA inJOY, my one-on-one coaching package. I open up a small number of spaces twice every year. Email me to learn more.

I’ve never done anything online like this, how does it work?

There are many advantages to learning and growing in an on-line forum like this. You can do it at your own pace, in your own time, and in the comfort of your own home. The Calm Mom Coaching Circle has been carefully designed to ensure that you have space to learn on your own and in a group.

Weekly lessons (audio) and assignments (pdf worksheets) are designed around our guideposts. Guidepost emails will land in your inbox for 6 consecutive Mondays, beginning April 4th.

Each Guidepost Email will include an audio (podcast) lesson and an assignment. Ideally, you will complete these by the following Wednesday. However, if life gets in the way (as it often does) you can always finish your assignments up later on in the week.

Weekly on-line gatherings take place on Wednesdays. These will include relaxation practices, lesson follow-up and group coaching exercises.

And for anything that comes up in between, a Private Facebook group has been set up to encourage conversation between Mamas, and any questions for Alex.

When does the Calm Mom Coaching Circle begin, and what exactly does it involve?

The on-line Calm Mom Coaching Circle journey begins on Monday April 4th when you will receive your first Coaching Circle Guidepost Email in your inbox. You will receive Guidepost Emails for 6 consecutive Mondays.

Each email will guide you through a reflective assignment that will take you one step closer to managing your Momstress through deepened self-awareness and the development of personalised tools and strategies to help you manage all of life’s challenges from calmer, more mindful and heart-centered place.

We will meet on-line as in a coaching circle on Wednesdays at noon (EST) beginning April 6th. Here we will practice relaxation and mindfulness techniques, the Guidepost will be reviewed and questions will be answered. This is also your opportunity to share your experiences and reflections, and perhaps dig in a bit deeper and benefit from personalized coaching from Alex.

If anything comes up in between our sessions, you can join our Private Facebook group. This is a place to share your wins, your challenges and anything you think may support others along the way. Alex will check in twice daily to answer any questions you may have and offer coaching guidance in this exciting journey!

I’m not sure if I can make every on-line gathering – are there any make-ups?

There are no make-ups for our live coaching circle gatherings.

However, all gatherings will be recorded. So if you are not able to join a circle live, you will have access to the recording within the week.

I'm so super busy already! How am I going to find the time to do this? And how much time will this take, anyway?

I totally get how busy you are and how adding one more project to the list feels near impossible!

A whole bunch of thought has been put into making this as Mama-friendly as possible. Having said that, it is important that you see this program as a serious commitment that will take up your precious energy and time.

As with anything, the more you give, the more you get. It is an investment that will pay off with more quality time for yourself and with your loved ones.  Improved relationships all around! It is also an amazing place to meet like-minded supported Mamas who really get where you are at.

Each Guidepost lesson is between 30 and 60 minutes long. Assignments vary – some are easily integrated you’re your busy days as a type of practice, and others require a focused time of approximately 45 minutes. In general, I would set aside 2 hours each week as a minimum (and not including Facebook conversations/ coaching).

Will I get any live access to Alex? Will I get any coaching along the way?

Yes! Absolutely! You will get live access to Alex at each Wednesday coaching circle. The group is kept small to ensure that there is time to answer any questions or issues that come up for you. These circles are the space where you can receive some individual coaching that responds to your unique situation!

Alex will also respond to any doubts, queries, set-backs in our private Calm Mom Facebook group.

This is something I really want to do, but what if now isn't a good time for me?

If this question comes up for you, I invite you to ask yourself what is really holding you back, and whether what you are currently investing in is as important as learning to model of calm, joy and confidence to your children.

My free Clear Mind | Present Mama challenge is an excellent way to determine whether what you spend your energy and time on right now is aligned with what is truly madly deeply important to you. I run the Challenge every season, so if you haven’t already, you can join the waiting list by clicking here, now
